Civil Disobedience in DC: Tar Sands Action, 8/20-9/3: Bill McKibben and others have called for Nonviolent Direct Action in DC, August 20 to September 3, to oppose the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, proposed to pipe tar sands oil from Canada to Texas, a truly terrible idea in many ways. Google “tar sands pipeline” for tons of reasons why, and tarsandsaction.org for info about the DC event. Folks from our area are considering a van going down to join in.
